So we’re having breakfast Sunday morning with my sister. She finishes her breakfast and proceeds to clear her table…
” You can’t get up…it’s our family rule. You have to wait till everyone is done eating.”
I couldn’t believe it. Nicholas is the hugest offender when it comes to begging to get up before we are all done eating…and yet here he was letting his aunt know she was breaking the rules. This just proves that he knows EXACTLY what is expected of him, but is always trying to push it.
I know it was the IMAX theatre and that it was in 3D, but how is it that the theatres can get away with this? We didn’t even buy any food there. We always stop at a gas station and fill up on goodies to sneak in to the theatre. A bottled water at the movie theatre is $4.50. How is that even LEGAL? I understand they need to make money, but isn’t $15.50 per adult ticket enough profit? I could have purchased two copies of this movie and watched it numerous times. UGHHHHHH!!!!!!!!! I just needed to vent.

” Mommy, Mommy (blubbering) the, the, the, toothfairy didn’t take my tooth!”
What a way to wake up. The kid never wakes up early, but of course he did today to check and see if the tooth fairy left him his money. And of course, she dropped the ball. After explaining that sometimes the tooth fairy gets really busy and can’t get to everyone’s house, he felt better. Wish I could have gone back to sleep, but he woke up the other two boys as well with his crying. Guess this is just an indicator for the kind of day this is going to be.

This week is going to be a little different since my husband will be home every night this week except for Thursday. I’m still gettng used to actually having to sit down and think about what we’re eating for the whole week. I’m sure it will get easier as I get used to it. It’s definitely been helpful for planning purposes.

The boys room smelled like there were 5 nasty poopy diapers in there. But I couldn’t find a diaper and I knew I hadn’t changed one yet for that day. Next I thought maybe Nicholas’ bottle spilled some milk and that it was sour milk smell. I looked everywhere, couldn’t find it. Soured milk smells bad, but not as horrible as the stench going on in that room. It took me all day, and the smell got worse. I kept looking for a diaper because I swear it smelled like poop. I saw the diaper bag sitting next to the bedroom door. I didn’t put any dirty diapers in there, I never do…but maybe my mommy memory was worse off than I thought, so I check in the bag…BLEGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. There was no poopy diaper…just some leftover spagetti in tupperware from Grandma’s house….OH MY GOSH!!! The smell was horrible. It wasn’t even a lot of spagetti. We’re talking maybe half a cups worth. I removed it from the bag immediatly and washed the tupperware. Thirty minutes later the smell in the room was gone. I think it will be a while before this mommy eats spagetti.

I guess it doesn’t really matter because we aren’t even going to be in town to see them but it makes me sad that there will be no fireworks this year. I understand completely, it costs over $50,000 for the University to put on the show, and it is the responsible thing to do. The University needs to handle it’s budget as we do at home. If it’s not a necessity, then we don’t spend the money on it. Now I only wish our State would do the same thing. We elect these people and they can’t even stay within budget…ugh, don’t get me started. I am worried about our schools. What else will they cut? Homeschooling is looking more and more enticing to me. I just hope next year at this time things will be better, for the sake of our children’s future.

I feel like I’m constantly moving things around. It drives my husband crazy. He’ll go open a cabinet and what used to be there no longer is. Or he’ll come home and the couches are switched around and furniture has been moved. It’s not because I love interior decorating and/or organizing. It’s because I get so frustrated with all the “stuff” we have. Mostly it’s kids stuff. And they use all of it…not all at the same time, but they play with everything. I have a hard time getting rid of their stuff. It’s inevitable…as soon as I toss something, Nathan is looking for it. So instead I try to figure out better ways to arrange it.
My peeve today was the kitchen table. I am constantly telling them to clean up the kitchen table. With all the space in the house, that is where they want to draw, play with action figures and just hang out. The problem is that everytime we have to eat, I need to ask them to clear the table. I see the frustration on their little faces. I don’t want them to get to a point where they don’t want to play or draw because they don’t want to clean up. So I decided I would bring the folding table we have in the garage into the house. I know…ghetto. But I really want them to have their space. They love to draw and paint and I like giving them the freedom to do it when they please. It was the best move I’ve made. They loved it and all three of them played at the table for a solid hour without interruption. I posted pictures on my other blog dedicated to my boys. It made me so happy to see them so entertained. Those photos make me feel like I accomplished a lot today, by allowing this house to be a home.
This is a yummy cream of brocolli soup. I can’t remember where I found it but as soon as I figure it out, I will post it here. It is a WW friendly recipe. It was really good. Hubby ate it up.
- 1 can cream of celery soup 98% fat-free
- 1 can cream of mushroom soup 98% fat-free
- 1 box frozen broccoli chopped (I used Birds Eye)
- 1/4 cup low fat shredded cheese
- 2 cups skim milk
Cook broccoli as directed. Add soups, milk and cheese. Heat till hote and serve. The soup thickens as it serves. I pureed the soup afterwards for a cream of broccoli soup. It was super easy to make and delicious.
So I thought I couldn’t go wrong with homemade pizza. The boys disliked it so much. I don’t think I’ll be making any of that anytime soon.
